Style Thursday: Ring Nail Trend

Once upon a time, I went to beauty school. I love hair, nails, and makeup and have managed to keep up with what’s trending in the beauty world and the number one trend my trusted nail artists folk are seeing, “ring nails.” The “ring nail” manicure is basically one style of polish on all but both of your ring fingers. Typically, it’s an ornate design, overlay, pop of glitter, etc. that makes your ring fingers stand out from the rest of your mani.

Of course, like any beauty or fashion trend, the “ring nail” manicure has made it’s way in to the world of bridal. The most popular choice for brides is a french manicure with a striking bit of nail art on the ring fingers. Many brides choose to express the color palette of their wedding with their “ring nail” polish and art. Others, choose something that is close to their heart or something for that proverbial, “something blue.” If you are digging this trend, whatever your ring nail choice, have fun with it! Here are a few bits of “ring nail” mani inspiration to get your creativity flowing.

Who’s your Darcy? Colin Firth or Matthew Macfayden?

Or, do you go way back when to David Rintoul or Laurence Olivier?

Style Thursday: Dark Romantic Make Up

Today’s Style Thursday is a continuation on yesterday’s dark romance theme. Be you a gothic bride, are planning a Winter wedding, or just love dark ethereal make up, I’ve got some great looks for you today. This is the sort of make up I wear in my day to day life. I have always found beauty in the shadows and these looks can certainly be interpreted as such.

As you can see with these looks, some follow that strange beauty rule of having only one intense feature. In all honesty, If you want to have a heavy eye and a heavy lip, go for it! If you prefer to follow the rule, that’s okay too. Remember, it’s your face and you are the one who has to be satisfied with your look. Rules were meant to be followed, bent, and in some cases broken. 😉

If your budget allows, start looking for a make up artist to assist you with your wedding day look. If you are on a strict budget, many make up artists will do a consultation and show you how to DIY your make up. For those whose budget is squeaky tight, check out the department store make up counters. Many of them will do your make up for no cost or if you buy a product (your definitely going to want a lipstick).

The only thing I would caution you on is heavy glitter on your face. Sometimes the glitter flakes can show up as skin flaws in your photography. I’m a glitter lover and know how hard it is to restrain one’s love for pixie dust, especially when planning your dream day. So, before you go channeling Tinkerbell, talk to your photographer and see what he or she suggests. Many photogs can work with you to help you develop the best look for you and your photos.

So, take a peek and don’t forget to take a moment to soak all of this wedding planning in. Remember, this is supposed to be fun!

Whether you are a Winter bride looking to make a dramatic statement with your wedding day look or are enjoying pre-wedding day events, the color trending this year for winter lips is wine. Glossy or matte, dark or light, red head (such as myself) or are darker skinned, there is a shade of wine that is sure flatter you. Today, I have a little collection of some of my favorite wine lip looks for you. Dare to be bold with your wedding day look!

Stunner Thursday: Winter Bridal Looks

Happy Thanksgiving all! Given that I am the turkey and gravy queen in the family, my commentary will be short and sweet. I’ve got some gorgeous winter bridal looks for you today. Just one note: think frosty instead of glittery. Glitter can often mimic blemishes in photos. So, talk to your photographer about your bridal look before the wedding and see what he or she recommends with regard to your winter wedding look and how it will appear on camera. I hope you all have a lovely day and thank you for reading!
