Monday’s Finding: Sticks and Stones…

If you are a couple on a budget, nature has so graciously supplied you with free or nearly free centerpiece ideas. Sticks, branches, and stones when used en masse can make a big decorative impact without killing your budget. You can go rustic with little embellishment, add votives for a bit of glitz, or add flowers (fresh, artificial, paper, etc.) for a touch of romance. Mix tall branch arrangements with low stone arrangements for a bit of variety or for a more uniform look, keep your table decor the same.

One of my favorite trends involves decorating the stone with crocheted mini doilies as shown below. Scattered in the middle or down the center of a table with white votives they will be gorgeous and can even double as a favor.

Here are some ideas to inspire your own sticks and stones arrangements. Take care all and have a great Monday!

Etsy Virtual Bridal Show: Day 16, Decor and more (4 of 4)

Here is today’s final entry in the show. Gorgeous feathered creations to rustic burlap details, the Etsy Virtual Bridal Show team has you covered!

I began the Etsy Virtual Bridal Show last year to support individual artisans and vendors and to provide couples with alternatives to the mass produced wedding finds out there is traditional stores. The bridal world is evolving and growing away from the expected and moving toward individual craftsmanship and DIY touches. What’s great about Etsy is that you too can have a handmade look to your wedding without sacrificing your fingerprints to your hot glue gun.

In addition to helping individually owned shops, I wanted to bring awareness to my chosen charity: Wish Upon A Wedding. “Wish Upon a Wedding is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization that provides weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness or other serious life-altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation. Often, couples facing such situations do not have the energy, time, money, or resources needed to plan their wedding. Our organization takes care of all the details, offering couples a chance to relax and enjoy a very special day while surrounded by the love of their closest family and friends.” -www.wishuponawedding.org

Please note that donations are not required to view or for vendors participate in the show. This is my labor of love to bring awareness to Wish Upon A Wedding and my belief in supporting small businesses and individual artisans. If you feel led to help Wish Upon A Wedding accomplish their mission, please see Wish Upon A Wedding’s donation page.

Monday’s Finding: The Linnet’s Wing

The other day I was creating a treasury on Etsy when I came across the shop, The Linnet’s Wing. I immediately fell in love with Erika’s wreaths and other lovelies she has in her shop. You can utilize these for home decor, as beautiful garden party decor, as wedding centerpieces. and even table numbers. Here is a bit about The Linnet’s Wing along with pics of some of Erika’s items.

FYI: I have sought permission from this vendor to use her products and her photos. Please do not use these photos for personal gain or copy the designs presented. These products are the livelihood, passion, and intellectual property of the artist and to copy these items or to use them for person gain is both highly unethical and in some cases is a violation of copyright law.

“My name is Erika and I am a work-at-home mom and artist in rural Pennsylvania. I was the director of a contemporary art gallery for many years, and am now a professional floral designer. My art background has led me into several different styles of expression, but flowers, weeds, fruits and branches have always captivated me.

I live in a tiny stone cottage that is planted in one of the most beautiful places in the world. When I step out of my door, I am surrounded by woods, lakes, fields, and orchards that inspire and facilitate my creations.

I use found or homegrown materials wherever possible and have perfected methods for preserving my materials naturally and effectively, and only select pieces that last when dried.” – from The Linnet’s Wing profile

“I make nature-inspired seasonal items for your hearth and home from the wilds of Pennsylvania. Here, you will find entirely handmade wreaths, adornments, arrangements, and vintage finds for your farmhouse and garden. I collect or grow many of my dried materials in the acres surrounding my home, and all silk or faux materials are carefully selected for authenticity.” – from The Linnet’s Wing shop page
