Etsy Virtual Bridal Show: Day 1, Bridal Gowns (3 of 3)

Here is the final part of the Bridal Gowns section. I hope you have enjoyed all of these gorgeous dresses and hopefully one that speaks to you. If you are wary about ordering a custom dress, I can assure you that you won’t be sorry. Check out a shop’s feedback and see how many satisfied customers they have. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want, even if it’s a bit non-traditional. Work with the shop and trust that they are experts at what they do. I ordered my own wedding jacket from an awesome Etsy vendor. I gave her my measurements and when it arrived, perfection.

I began the Etsy Virtual Bridal Show last year to support individual artisans and vendors and to provide couples with alternatives to the mass produced wedding finds out there is traditional stores. The bridal world is evolving and growing away from the expected and moving toward individual craftsmanship and DIY touches. What’s great about Etsy is that you too can have a handmade look to your wedding without sacrificing your fingerprints to your hot glue gun.

In addition to helping individually owned shops, I wanted to bring awareness to my chosen charity: Wish Upon A Wedding. “Wish Upon a Wedding” is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization that provides weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness or other serious life-altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation. Often, couples facing such situations do not have the energy, time, money, or resources needed to plan their wedding. Our organization takes care of all the details, offering couples a chance to relax and enjoy a very special day while surrounded by the love of their closest family and friends.” -www.wishuponawedding.org

Please note that donations are not required to view or for vendors participate in the show. This is my labor of love to bring awareness to Wish Upon A Wedding and my belief in supporting small businesses and individual artisans. If you feel led to help Wish Upon A Wedding accomplish their mission, please see Wish Upon A Wedding’s donation page.

Giveaway! Today’s giveaway comes from C. R. Boggs Designs. “C.R.Boggs Designs was created out of the love of Vintage and Haute Couture styles. Many hours have been spent researching Old Hollywood and Vintage Bridal pieces that have become inspirations for many of my pieces. Each design is an original and although i may make a similar piece upon request, each piece is an original and no two are just alike. Everyday brings a new thought or inspiration for my works. I specialize in couture styles and relish using vintage jewelry, lace, and gems of all types.” -Etsy Profile

This shop has generously donated a $30 gift certificate and all you have to do is check out the C. R. Boggs Designs shop and post your favorite item in the comments section of this post. Saturday Suprise: Maria Karin Couture aka I DIE!

Last night I was goofing around on the net and “discovered” an amazing wedding dress designer: Maria Karin. “Carina Patricia Ferriera Costa, stylist and entrepreneur was born in Lisbon, Portugal on January 14, 1978. During her childhood, divided between school and her family’s business, she discovered the mechanics of the fashion industry; deepening her knowledge of fabrics and the making of dresses. Her mother, aware of her talent and personality, passed on to her daughter her strength, tenacity and ambition so much so that in 1998 Carina decided to leave her parents’ business and face by herself the challenge of the fashion world. It was then that she founded ‘Maria Karin International’ with headquarters in Lisbon, New York, and Madrid.” – http://www.mariakarin.com/

Maria Karin designs are definitely for the bride looking for a highly detailed and fashion forward gown that will leave guests in awe as she makes the journey down the aisle. I am in love with the textured and three-dimensional details of Carina’s beautiful couture gowns and I hope this little peek in to her 2012 and 2011 collections inspires you with regard to your own wedding attire. Have a great weekend!

Monday’s Finding: Luxe Week: Bridal Gowns

In keeping with Saturday’s Surprise post on the world’s most expensive wedding, this week on the blog is all about luxury wedding items and weddings sure to inspire and fulfill your fairy tale dreams.

Today, we shall take a look at some of the most couture and over the top bridal gown designs. These are gowns that go above and beyond the average $1,200 wedding dress. Whether you are planning a platinum wedding or are dreaming of a platinum wedding on a silver budget, today’s gowns just might make you swoon a skoche.

So, first in our lineup is Etsy. I know what you may be thinking, couture on Etsy? Yep, you betcha! Finally, we have a variety of luxe couture gowns from a variety of designers that you may already be familiar with. Of course I had to include my favorite designer, Claire Pettibone who I have included in features multiple times here on the blog. Design houses featured: Atelier Amee Montenapoleone, Katerina Bocci, St. Pucci, Rivini, Monique Lhuillier, Matthew Christopher, Jenny Packham, Reem Acra, Priscilla of Boston, Ian Stewart (one of my faves), Ines di Santo, and Claire Pettibone. Finally, we have a selection of used couture dresses for those on a tighter budget.

I hope you like today’s post as much as I do. It certainly was a lot of fun shopping around for dresses that are truly works of art. Have a great day all!
