Monday’s Finding on Tuesday: Memorial Day and Tea Cup Ring Pillows

Well, I hope you all had a lovely Memorial Day weekend. I come from a military family and Memorial Day is a special time of reflection and gratitude for me. My father spend nearly 24 years as a highly respected Cryptologist in the Navy (heck, he even got to help the British government), my sister almost 11 years in the Army (she earned medals for her role in the invasion of Panama), my nephew is currently in the Air Force, both of my uncles were in the Army (82nd and 101st), and my grandfather was in the Army as well. I take this time to be grateful for all of men and women in uniform that have passed and to those currently in service. In addition, I give a big thank you to the spouses and families, for they too sacrifice so that their loved ones can serve their country.

I want to bring special attention to a charity known as the American Widow Project. The American Widow Project has dedicated itself to sharing the stories of the estimated 3,000 military widows of the nearly 6,000 service members who have died since 2001 as well as those that occurred prior. “While the service member’s sacrifice is acknowledged, many simply forget or fail to recognize the sacrifice of the spouse who is now left a widow of war. Oftentimes the invisible wounds of military widows are disregarded due to age or a simple lack of knowledge and understanding. The American Widow Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to the new generation of those who have lost the heroes of yesterday, today and tomorrow, with an emphasis on healing through sharing stories, tears and laughter………Military Widow to Military Widow.” –http://www.americanwidowproject.org/about/. Please go to their website to learn more and donate if you are able.

Now, on to Monday’s Finding…on Tuesday. This week’s Monday’s Finding is an Etsy vendor that I featured on the Etsy Virtual Bridal Show (slideshow posted at the end of this post), Enchanted Bouquets. Enchanted Bouquets specializes in amazingly beautiful paper bridal and attendant bouquets. When revisiting Amber’s shop over the weekend, I found that she has started making wicked cute ring pillows out of tea cups! I knew I had to share them with you and I greatly appreciate Amber’s willingness for sharing her work on my blog.

FYI: I have sought permission from this vendor to use her photos of her work as Etsy does not allow photos to be clipped. Please do not use this photo for personal gain or copy the design presented. This product is the livelihood, passion, and intellectual property of the artist and to copy these items or to use them for person gain is both highly unethical and in some cases is a violation of copyright law (this means you Urban Outfitters!).

For a mod/vintage wedding, this aqua and lime color combo would go quite well.

This teacup is perfect for a shabby shic fete.

For an elegant garden affair, this teacup is perfect.

Aren’t they fabulous? I love them and I’m really considering getting one for my own wedding. Oh, and in case you missed it, here is Enchanted Bouquet’s slide show from the Etsy Virtual Bridal Show:

Stay tuned later in the day for Tips and Trends Tuesday!

The first artisan in this category for Ring Bearers and Flower Girls is Aphrodite’s Canvas. “With Aphrodite’s Canvas I incorporate romantic images with the beauty of nature. Greens, browns, rust etc. I believe every color ignites emotion, and I appreciate them all.” “The ring disc was perfect for our rings and for our wedding style. Best part is we can use it again in the future as an ornament or simply displayed as a memento of our wedding.”

In addition to Floral Accents, the owner also has the shop Fascinating Creations and was featured in the Veils, Headpieces, and Hair Accessories section of the show. “I have been a floral designer for 15 years and love to create different designs. I look forward to working with you to help with your floral needs.” “Perfect ring bearer pillow for my sister’s wedding. It matched her colors and flowers beautifully. Everyone loved how different it was!”

Here we have Woomi, “I launched my collection on Etsy when I was living in New York, now I moved back to my home country Korea, I promise to continue to develop new styles. Whether it’s bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, cake toppers, pew bows, ceremony arrangements, or ring bearer alternatives, there is something here for everyone.” “I fell in love with GardenSidestudio’s ring bearer bird’s nest and twig flower girl basket! I got to customize the color of the two speckled eggs in the nest and the color of the ribbon. She was happy to match the ribbon with my wedding colors 🙂 I would definitely buy from them again. These were made to order and were carefully packaged. Without my asking, she messaged me a picture of the nest and basket when she was done making them before I bought them to make sure I liked the result. She definitely loves what she does and it shows. Thanks Garden Side Studio!”

Jen of The Ritzy Rose says, “I am a designer from New York now living in Columbus, Ohio. In the spring of 2010, I married the man of my dreams, and I had a blast creating every aspect of our wedding. This process expanded my creativity and took me in many new directions. You can expect many of them to show up here.” Thanks for helping make the flags so personal with extra touches! they are exactly like what I imagined. I cant wait to share some pictures =).”

Modern Victorian was created by Velvet and Corley Hodges, a mother/daughter design team. Velvet is a decorative painter by trade and Corley is a young adult novelist. Their obsession for texture is reflected in their designs. They also share a love of fabric and frills which was bestowed upon them by their late grandmother. Thanks for your interest in their creative design!” “It’s gorgeous! Our flower girl is going to look so pretty carrying this! I didn’t notice in the picture, but there are beautiful burgundy rhinestones lining the top. Love it! Shipping was very quick and great communication. I’ll be sending pics as soon as I can. Thank you again!”

As seen in Martha Stewart Weddings Spring 2011 Magazine, Olive and Fern crafts “lovely handmade Flower girl Dresses, perfect for a casual, destination, rustic…or outdoor Wedding.” “These are even more perfect in person! I have 5 little flower girls and they all love them! Olive and fern was so great to work with, and answered any and all questions so quickly! I highly recommend purchasing if you are interested! I will send pictures from my May wedding of the girls in their dresses. Thank you again…they are so perfect!!!”

All items are custom made to suit your needs…Everything is handmade with care from quality materials. A lot of time and craftsmanship is put into each item. Since I do take custom orders, most everything can be done in another color or fabric. If you see a style you like but want to make design changes it is usually possible. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.” “We received the dresses today and could not be more pleased with the final product. They are made with a good quality fabric – fully lined with tulle and even the ribbon is constructed out of a really nice silk fabric. Excellent customer service, beautiful clothing, and would definitely recommend this person to any buyer.”
