Friday’s Favorites: Virtual Bridal Show Sneak Peek…Floral Headpieces and Gowns!

Happy Friday! What will you be up to this weekend? Me, I’ll be snuggled up on the couch in front of the fireplace with Mr. Wondermous. The kiddo is up the mountain at Grandma’s and will be frolicking in the snow and skipping across Grandma’s frozen lake. I’m looking forward to nearly three days without stepping on a Lego…lol.

Today I have two treasuries for you. Today’s Sunday Surprise is an Etsy treasury full of gorgeous ball gowns available in EVERY size. Petite brides and plus size brides looking for their dream princess ball gown, can often find the search a bit daunting. There is a notion in the industry that these two size ranges are hard to fit or that this silhouette is unflattering to them. In Memory: Manuel Mota, Creative Director of Pronovias

The bridal design world has lost one of its greats. Manuel Mota, Creative Director of Pronovias has passed. He was the Creative Director of Pronovias (a family run bridal design house) for 23 years. Under his direction, Pronovias became the worldwide design force that it is today. To honor him, I have put together a slide show of some of Manuel’s 2013 collection. May Manuel’s loved ones find peace and comfort at this time. May you rest in peace Manuel and your legacy live on. You will be missed.

Today’s Monday’s Finding is pure eye candy. If you love antique textiles, handmade lace, beautiful bustles, or previously loved articles of wonder, you are going to LOVE this post. Seriously, I even made myself SQUEE! when I pulled this post together.

I love antique textiles and fashion. I can spend hours upon hours perusing such sites as vintagetextile.com and antiquedress.com. Very few current gown designers nowadays use such exquisite fabric, beading, pleating, handmade lace, and intricately detailed materials and techniques any more. Each dress is a work of art, many bespoke and unique to the bride for which they were created. One of the gowns below even comes with pictures and the marriage certificate of the bride!

Tips or Trends Tuesday: Trend: Yellow Bridal Gowns

The popularity of colored bridal gowns is on the rise. Many design houses are producing, red, black, pink, blush, and blue designs that are gorgeous! With this rise in popularity, it can often take just one celebrity wedding for a new bridal trend to take off. Thanks to Amber Tamblyn (formerly of General Hospital and recently of House M.D.) golden gown she wore for her wedding to fellow actor, David Cross (most notably of Arrested Development), yellow bridal gowns are the latest trend in bridal fashion. I fully expect to see a lot more sunshine colored gowns at Spring Bridal Market next year.
