Hello, I am Kristen Sherman the woman behind the curtain so to speak. After a 16 year career as an event planner and grant writer in the non-profit industry, I decided to stay at home with my special needs son and started my own wedding and event planning business called Parties by Kristen as well as an associated blog. I have since retired the planning business and my blog lives on here at Belle Memorie.

In addition, I just opened my own Etsy shop! Belle Memorie Weddings (etsy.com/shop/BelleMemorieWeddings) will focus on wedding items for alternative weddings.

You will notice a lot of Etsy content here. I fell in love with Etsy the moment I discovered it. I love supporting individual artisans and in the past have been an artist myself (jewelry, painting, Chinese brush painting). In March/April 2011, I put together an Etsy Virtual Bridal Show on my blog showcasing Etsy Artists/Vendors to present couples alternatives to what is offered in traditional bridal stores. I am so very grateful to all of the artisans and vendors who granted me permission to feature them. You all are fabulously talented and I hope to have you back next year.

I am engaged and have started planning my own wedding for June of 2013. The primary theme of our wedding is dedicated to her love of butterflies and our mutual love of Jane Austen. My fiancee was blessed with the opportunity to ask not just my dad, but my mom to marry me on our visit to CA a week and a half before she passed. After he asked me to marry him, I knew that there was a reason her room in the hospice was full of butterflies. My father recently passed suddenly and I’m glad that he knew I’d be taken care of. He admired my fiancee so much that he have us my mom’s wedding set and also included his own wedding band. It’s memories like this that remind me as to how lucky I am to have found my Mr. Darcy. My fiancee and I have made the commitment that we will support individual artisans, locally sourced foods, etc. for our wedding and I can’t wait to marry my Mr. Wondermous.
