Wedding Wednesday: Black and White Plaid Inspiration

A happy Wedding Wednesday to you! I have a fun inspiration board for you today based on this super cute black and white plaid wedding dress I found in my searches across the net. If Jessica Biel and Anne Hathaway can wear gorgeous pink frothy gowns, there is no reason why you can’t wear this edgy and fun design in plaid. Your wedding should be all about you and your love, not what is expected. Embrace you and your fiancee’s likes and personality and incorporate it in to your special day. Enjoy!

Wedding Wednesday: Modern Cameo Inspiration

Well, I’m back from CA and it was a good trip. My Dad’s service was lovely and complete with an all Navy honor guard that I know would have pleased Dad to no end. Taking my kiddo to his first trip at Disneyland and CA Adventure for his birthday was TONS of fun! He got to meet a lot of characters (the character breakfasts are SO worth it) as well as get a pirate makeover and official membership in the Pirates League:

Such a fun time and it was great to see friends and family as well as meet my soon to be Mother-in-Law who is very nice and I look forward to getting to know better.

Now, on with this week’s inspiration board: Modern cameo inspiration. Cameos are such a fashion trend right now and are taking a big departure from their most commonly known high Victorian aesthetic. Personally, I love them and have several family heirloom cameos and have plans to increase my collection. For those who love cameos, but want a modern edge to their wedding design, take a peek at this board and it’s use of clean lines and a black and white palette. Happy Planning!

Wedding Wednesday: Black and White Butterfly Masquerade

Today’s Wedding Wednesday was inspired by this amazing cake (see board below) from Gimme some Sugar Custom Cakes in Las Vegas, NV. Gimme Some Sugar is a custom cake design studio with some truly amazing creations. In addition to the gallery on their site, here is a link to their Flickr page with even more fabulous cakes. Seriously, their cakes are jaw droppingly gorgeous and I could look at their work all day!

Many couples often pair a stand out color with a black and white palette, but I think that a simple black and white palette works beautifully on its own. After finding these gorgeous butterfly masquerade masks, I had my inspiration board theme. I hope you enjoy it!

Wedding Wednesday: Black and White Glamtastic Halloween

While I sit here in my non-air-conditioned home, I await my most favorite time of the year: Fall. For me, Fall brings about a respite from the dog days of summer and this year is no exception. I grow tired of the daily 90 degree plus temperatures, unusual for Denver. I long to see nature prepare for it’s winter sleep. I want to see the aspens change and most of all: Halloween.

Halloween and Dia de los Muertos are my favorite holidays. I grew up in San Diego and my love of the Day of the Dead stems from the vivid culture in places like Old Town and Bonita. I think it was as a child being surrounded by the normalcy of death and the promise of renewal that comes from the waning time of year is where my love of skulls and skeletons developed.

Today I wanted to share with you a different sort of Halloween/Dia de los Muertos/Fall influenced wedding with a color palette influenced by Kim Kardashian’s (groan, I know…I know) black and white color scheme. I hope you are inspired to go a little glam and outside the box in terms of styling a Fall wedding. It doesn’t have to be your typical orange, brown, and yellow for a beautiful Fall fete.
