Wedding Wednesday: A Spooky Yet Elegant Halloween Wedding Theme

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year. The heat of Summer is gone and the weather is cool with a slight chill in the air. The leaves have turned and fallen and with each step you take, they crunch under your feet. Then, there is the smell of baked goods in the air: pumpkin, cinnamon, and vanilla. This is the time of year where we all turn to our inner child and relish in the spooky, the haunted, and the elegance of darkness.

If this speaks to you and you are pondering the notion of a Halloween wedding, then I hope this board inspires you and your own wedding fete. Instead of kitsch, consider an elegant approach using white pumpkins, black and crystal bling, and the airiness of a spider’s web moving in the Autumn breeze. Monday’s Finding: Halloween Wedding Treasury

You wouldn’t know it by going outside (nearly 100 degree heat most of the summer here in CO), but very soon, Fall will be upon us. If you’re like me, I relish the drop in temperature, the leaves changing color, and let’s not forget, Halloween!

When it comes to Halloween weddings, many couples go over the top with an orange and black palette complete with a haunted house and others go very subtle using things like white pumpkins and a color scheme that doesn’t involve orange and black. I have put together a treasury that I think is a bit in the middle of these two ideals. You can add a flair for the traditional Halloween macabre to your day and still have an air of elegance about it. My personal favorite in this treasury are the wine bags. What’s yours?

Wedding Wednesday: Black and White Glamtastic Halloween

While I sit here in my non-air-conditioned home, I await my most favorite time of the year: Fall. For me, Fall brings about a respite from the dog days of summer and this year is no exception. I grow tired of the daily 90 degree plus temperatures, unusual for Denver. I long to see nature prepare for it’s winter sleep. I want to see the aspens change and most of all: Halloween.

Halloween and Dia de los Muertos are my favorite holidays. I grew up in San Diego and my love of the Day of the Dead stems from the vivid culture in places like Old Town and Bonita. I think it was as a child being surrounded by the normalcy of death and the promise of renewal that comes from the waning time of year is where my love of skulls and skeletons developed.

Today I wanted to share with you a different sort of Halloween/Dia de los Muertos/Fall influenced wedding with a color palette influenced by Kim Kardashian’s (groan, I know…I know) black and white color scheme. I hope you are inspired to go a little glam and outside the box in terms of styling a Fall wedding. It doesn’t have to be your typical orange, brown, and yellow for a beautiful Fall fete.

I wanted to send out a little inspiration for those who are having or want to have a fall holiday centered wedding. The first set is a traditional orange and black Halloween, the next two sets I have published before, but figured they could use some posting again: white and green pumpkins and a Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) theme.
