Today’s Fridays Favorite and the close of Doing it BIG! week are two Marie Antoinette (rococo) style Etsy treasuries. The first is the traditional blue/pink color scheme and the second is a darker take on it similar to my Wedding Wednesday post.

Theme Thursday: Doing it BIG! Week: Gaga New Years Masquerade

I didn’t get a chance to post this yesterday, so here is a bit of Lady Gaga influenced inspiration for a posh New Year’s Eve Party. Enjoy!

Apologies

Sorry about not posting today. Been having some major back pain.

Wedding Wednesday: Dark Antoinette on Doing it BIG! Week

If there ever was an era that was all about “Doing it BIG!,” the Rococo era is it’s poster child. With its opulent decor and elaborate ornamentation, the Rococo period was an era of lighthearted themes and typically lighter saturated pastel colors such as in this painting by Francois Boucher:

There is no greater icon of the late Rococo period than Marie Antoinette. When at court, Marie Antoinette donned some of the most elaborate gowns of this time period as well as her wigs and my personal favorite, her shoes. Here are some great examples of 18th century footwear similar to what Marie Antoinette might have worn:

Today’s Wedding Wednesday is an inspiration board with a dark take on the Marie Antoinette aesthetic inspired by a satire piece by Philip Dawe; printed for John Bowles in 1773 (pictured below) and a gorgeous Rococo influenced ensemble by Vivienne Westwood. I hope you enjoy it and that you have a wonderful day!

Doing it BIG! Week: Tips or Trends Tuesday: Over the top wedding venues

Good morning and welcome to day two of “Doing it BIG!” week. Today, I have nine over the top and amazing wedding venues for adventurous couples looking to “WOW!” their guests with an uber unique venue. From an ice chapel to the Great Wall of China (yes, you can get married at the Great Wall!), take your nuptials from edgy to going over the edge.

First Set
Winter Wonderland: Looking to have a winter wedding? Skip the faux snow and go straight for the real thing. Get married in an ice chapel at one of the world’s several ice hotels.
Beach: A wedding on a beach is the dream for many, but take it to a whole other level and surround yourself with the ocean and have your ceremony on a sandbar.
Rain Forest: Are you a green loving couple? Does the idea of getting married in a forested oasis speak to you? Then consider hosting your vows in a rain forest. Paronella Park in Queensland, Australia would make for an amazing destination wedding.

Second Set
Fairy Tale: For those desiring a Cinderella fairy tale wedding, consider Schonbrunn castle in Vienna.
Asian: Why just incorporate elements of the East, when you can go there? Yes, you can get married at the Great Wall of China!
Rustic: Experience the ultimate in rustic chic and marry in a cavern! Pictured here are the Luray Caverns in Luray, VA.

Third Set
Whimsical: Do you have an inner adult instead of an inner child? Have an intimate wedding in a treehouse. Consider Tree House Point in Issaquah, WA.
Modern: If you are thinking of a modern wedding with clean lines and simplicity? You and 20 guests can have your own capsule on the London Eye!
Safari: Skip the zebra print cake and cheetah chair covers and go for the real thing. Host your fete on a private island in the Zamebezi, not far from Victoria Falls.

I hope you enjoy these amazing venues and best wishes to you and your love.

Monday’s Finding: Wedding Dresses for the Bravest of Brides

My apologies for today’s post being so late. I got the gift of respiratory cooties. No receipt…can’t return. 🙂 The theme for the blog this week, “Doing it BIG!” This week the blog will feature wedding dresses, themes, etc. that shout it out LOUD! With that said, on with the show and what a show it is!

Are you a more is more type of bride? Do you long to make a seriously bold statement as you walk down the aisle? Is the idea of merely turning heads just not quite enough? Then look out darling, because, “HERE COMES THE BRIDE!”

My favorite over the top, no holds barred designer has to be Zuhair Murad. His dresses are ever so couture and definitely editorial. Why not go further than a piece of statement jewelry and go full on amazing with on of Zuhair’s creations or any of the other creations you see below. Live it up and turn it out!

Today’s “Friday’s Favorites” ties in to Tuesday’s post on the chandelier design trend. As usual, our post comes from the best that Etsy has to offer. I believe strongly in supporting individual artisans and vendors as much as I can. Go beyond the traditional bridal shop and catalogs with great bits and bobs for your wedding that sure to make for a uniquely detailed event.

Consider hanging a chandelier above your ceremony altar, guest book table, escort card table, dance floor or sweetheart table:
