Tips or Trends Tuesday: Trend: Flapper Fabulous

With the popularity of the HBO show, Boardwalk Empire, the rise in 20s era fashion and aesthetic has made it’s way in to the wedding and event world. Speakeasy themed galas, Sweet 16 parties, and prohibition era glam influenced wedding attire are more popular than ever. Take Lily Allen and Kate Moss’ wedding attire. Both wore Juliet Cap veils which were to die for and Kate’s beautiful John Galliano sequined creation featured an early 20th century silhouette and was simply lovely. Take a peek at the inspiration board below and consider incorporating one or two touches in to your wedding or go all out with a 1920s theme wedding.

Resources;
http://www.my1920swedding.com/– A great site with all sorts of period wedding ideas and this great post about how to get started with your own 1920s theme wedding as well as practical advice like measuring your feet for vintage shoes. Don’t forget that there are wedding planners such as myself who specialize in vintage and theme weddings (shameless plug).

Consider having custom period wedding stationery designed especially for you like Giddy Ink did for Erin and Shaun.

One of my favorite sites for vintage reproduction wedding dresses is Unique Vintage. The beautiful Sue Wong creation in the inspiration board is available through Unique Vintage here.

Think about having a signature cocktail that hearkens back to the speakeasy era. The drink shown in the inspiration board is known as a “Bronx Cocktail.”

  1. There’s something so captivating about the 20s and I’m loving the inspiration board. Daisy Buchanan – watch out 🙂
