Long gone are the days of “It’s all about the bride.” More and more grooms (no matter what their gender) are getting involved in the planning of their weddings and the wedding industry is starting to take notice. I have to admit that I cringe when I hear those old fashioned and quite frankly sexist statements that imply that a groom should just show up on a day that is meant to celebrate the love of two people, not just the whims and demands of one person or the other. Shows like Bridezillas in my opinion glamorize the tantrums of those who get so caught up in the “ME!” and forget that you should spend as much if not more effort in planning the marriage than you do in planning the wedding. So, today’s post is in honor of the masculine gender with a call to include them in to the planning and execution of their weddings.
I recently came across the online magazine, “Utterly Engaged,” when those behind it and the blog Ever Ours got together to start a fund-raising drive for those affected by the tragedy in Japan with For Japan With Love. I was delighted to see that Utterly Engaged devoted and entire issue to grooms and the growing involvement of grooms in the planning of their special day. Here is a link to that particular issue and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did:
